My poor little CC girl has been sick. She has had a fever, Headache and neckache for going on 6 days now. We are in CA so we hesitated taking her to the DR because of our health insurance not covering a visit here. So we had a Nurse friend come check her out, Ears, nose, throat, and chest were clear. We waited two more days then had a DR friend come check her out. Same as before everything was clear. We were concerned about meningitis because of the neck and head pain but that was all checking out . She recieved a blessing on Saturday morning but by the afternoon she was not getting any better and her fever was still fairly high so I knew I needed to take her in. I called a friend and she was sweet enough to watch Oli while I took CC in. Grandma was already in the hospital with Grandpa so when we got there she met us in the ER. The Drs gave her IVs, hooked her up to every machine and giving her xrays. After seeing everything was clear but her white blood count was high they decided we should give her a spinal tap to make sure she didnt have meningitis. The Drs kept saying it really isnt as bad as it sounds the procedure is quick and she will be sedated. So after a lot of going back and forth and hard descion making we decided that is what we would do. We wanted to air on the side of caution. At that moment I felt like a real parent having to make a hard decision like that for my little girl. It was hard to do it with out Kreg being with me but, boy am I lucky to have the BEST mother in-law ever!! She helped me stay calm and was so level headed about it all. She really has the whole hospital thing down too, thats what you get after spending almost a yr there with a sick family memeber. the whole experience was hard on me but most of all on my sweet girl. She cried every time any nurse or Dr entered her room, anytime they added another monitor to her body and most of all when they had to hold her down to give her the tap. They tried sedating her but she is a fighter in everyway and her little body even fought the sleep so she was numb but awake.:( so needless to say it happened exactly how I imagined and to me it was a BIG deal. She broke blood vessels around her eyes from screaming so hard.
The tests came back negative thank goodness, so they are summing it up to some kind of virus. We are hoping she will return to herself very soon. I miss my crazy, silly girl! We are home now, and just waiting this virus out. if it doesnt improve in the next day or so we will go back. We could use prayers for our CC and Kreg's Dad as well. Thanks!

This makes me want to cry - my poor little niece! Oh we love her, hope she gets better fast.
yikes~ how traumatic! Cara had a 3 week virus with fevers and all that junk. They had to do lots of yucky tests, but thankfully no spinal tap. Poor CC! Feel better
oh my goodness, anna. we'll definitely pray for cc (and paul as always). please keep us updated! we love you! :-)
Oh how sad...nothing is worse than having a sick little one, especially when you don't know what is wrong and them not wanting the Dr's or nurses to come by them!! I am glad she is doing better...wish you the best!
Oh Anna I had no idea. If you need anything please give me a call.
I do pray that she gets better. She looks like she's had a rough time at the hospital with all of her fighting. But she's a trooper.
Keep us updated on her progress!
Take care.
those smiles she had to try hard to give... it's the saddest and most stressful thing to have a little one sick. so glad prayers get answered and she is getting better. love you!

Poor baby... I'm sorry to hear she went through all that, makes me teary eyed just reading about it. Hope she is feeling better soon.
